Christa Norgren – Vancouver, BC
Greetings! My name is Christa Norgren and I reside in beautiful British Columbia right on the coast in Vancouver. I found yoga in 2004 and began my teacher training soon after in 2005 with YogaFit. I still continue to grow in my own learning through Mind Body Education with YogaFit Canada. Currently, I hold certifications in group fitness, weight training and yoga with British Columbia Recreation and Parks Association (BCRPA). I have been teaching YogaFit style classes in the YMCA of Greater Vancouver, the Richmond Olympic Oval and other fitness clubs.
I also have certifications in Fusion Fitness (pilates, yoga and fitness) and Level 1 Athlete’s Performance Training. I aspire to have athletes of various levels and sports include yoga in their training to reduce chance of injury, promote recovery should an injury occur and ultimately, enhance performance. I also work with children who require extra support in the school system in a neighbouring city, Burnaby. The Burnaby school system has newly been exposed to the “MindUp” Curriculum. The school where I am, the curriculum is used by all the teachers. It has a strong emphasis on awareness of self, both physically and emotionally and uses simple yoga techniques within the curriculum like breathing and mind/body connection. I have been able to bridge this peace of the “MindUp” Curriculum with yoga and I am excited to teach to both the children and my colleagues.
At my core, I believe health and wellness is the key to a long and happy life and I believe that begins from the inside out. Yoga has supported me to live that way more and more.
Marianne Regaudie – Montreal, QC
